T.E.A.M.
Training Excellence Assessment Modules
If you enjoy hobby training with your dog but may or may not be interested in showing your dog, then T.E.A.M is for you! Clubs are also perfect for many dog reactive dogs! Each club offers a friendly, fun, and professional environment as well as camaraderie for all students and dogs.
Our training clubs closely follow the Fenzi T.E.A.M. Program which was created by Fenzi Dog Sports Academy. Clubs work a little different than a class. You can join a club for $150/month. All clubs meet once a week. There is a maximum of four students so you and your dog get lots of personal coaching. Each dog and handler team works for 7 minutes one at a time on the training floor. While waiting your next turn, your dog can crate* behind a barrier, in the next room, or even in the car. By working one at a time, each team gets lots of one-on-one coaching. Each team will get three 7 minute sessions to practice with coaching from the instructor. Although three 7 minute training sessions doesn't sound like a lot, it is actually a lot of work for your dog and you can get a lot accomplished and have a tired dog at the end of club! Short bursts of intense coaching during club should set you up for great practice at home as well. With Club, space permitting, your instructor may be training their dog as well. This can be incredibly helpful observing an instructor training their dog and demonstrating what different skills look like.
Each club has three or four progressively challenging levels with 4 - 10 exercises each, and if you like, when you and your dog master all the exercises for a level, you can videotape and submit to Fenzi for an independent judge to review and if you both pass you earn a title from Fenzi.** Or if you prefer, you can just train moving through the levels and never worry about submitting for a title. Regardless, each team works at their own pace.
Clubs are intended to meet the needs of those who enjoy training long-term and with goals in mind or as personal training challenges. You can pay the monthly fee and stay in the club as many months as you like, or just one month. No commitment! Start and stop as you like!
* Crates are available for your use or you can bring your own.
** Registration and fees apply, payable to Fenzi Dog Sports Academy.
Nosework T.E.A.M. Club
Have fun teaching your dog to locate a hidden odor of your choosing. We typically use Chamomile teabags but you can use any odor (including competition odors). Some odors we have worked with in the past include, competition odors, chamomile tea bags, coffee, gun powder, keys, and wallets. Yes you can teach your dog to find your keys and wallet in this club! You must bring your odor of choice with you to club. You will both learn from the ground up how to teach this fun skill and then apply it to a series of exercises at each level. Some adjustments will be make for those using keys and wallets. It's easy, requires no equipment other than a few boxes so you can practice at home as well.
Although each club is allotted two hours with a maximum of four students, less than four students means that club may finish earlier unless students would like to have extra time to practice.
